About The Position

As a Principal Experience Designer for Venmo, you'll shape end-to-end experiences for millions of users. We seek a visionary leader committed to user-centered design, with flawless execution, deep understanding of design patterns, and ability to analyze user feedback and build product trust. You'll create sophisticated experiences that resonate with our audience while influencing stakeholders to champion the design vision. You'll join the Venmo design team focusing on commerce experiences for consumers, working closely with product, engineering, and cross-functional partners to drive strategy. Together we'll deliver exceptional experiences across all commerce aspects from discovery to post-purchase. Expect a fast-paced environment overseeing multiple projects while demonstrating strong communication skills.

Requirements

10+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
10+ years in UX role, bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in the study of user experience, design, research or related fields or equivalent professional experience
Thorough command of the UX lifecycle with deep, direct experience in all skill areas and tools, including facilitation of workshops or other collaboration techniques to drive momentum and credibility within the organization
Complete UX skillset, to deliver excellence across products and platforms, mobile apps, financial services expertise an advantage
Experience leading delivery, through feedback, design critique, presentation to program sponsors, planning and coordinating with partners where needed
Familiarity and experience with standard design and prototyping tools, such as Figma, Framer, and Miro
High degree of craft, taste, and product intuition, with a keen eye towards future trends, emerging technology, and shifting customer expectations
Demonstrate exceptional visual craft with mastery of typography, color theory, composition, and visual hierarchy to create polished, pixel-perfect designs that elevate user experiences
Experience managing multiple projects and working through ambiguity. Ability to work cross-team and synthesize feedback from multiple teams/owners.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and a relentless attention to detail.
Compelling storyteller who can educate as well as entertain.

Responsibilities

Establish overall business or technical strategy for user experience initiatives.
Negotiate with and influence decision-making reaching the senior executive level
Identify and resolve unique situations of substantial significance in user interface or interaction design
Allocate resources, responsibly and apply creativity to enhancing user and customer experiences across digital and physical products and services
Lead the development of user experience strategies that resonate with target audiences.
Support and mentor less-experienced roles to provide an example of innovation, excellence, and day-to-day learning
Design leadership - drive best practices in process and methodology and deliver against business and customer needs
Guide UX efforts across teams, including strategy, planning, working with cross-functional partners to remove blockers and presenting effectively to senior staff and stakeholders
Leverage and extend the use of design system, style guides, patterns and assets in the creation of UX deliverables
Contribute to the wider UX community, mentoring others, leveraging your strengths to help others grow
Ensure that all the organization’s output/visuals are consistent with the overall brand and strategic commitments.
Apply a customer-focused, iterative design process.
Make design decisions based on research and insights, as well as advocate for continuous learning and inclusive design best practices.
Collaborate with other cross-functional Design team members (Research, Content Design, UX Operations, Branding) and Business and Engineering stakeholders.
