About The Position

We are partnering with a leading biotech organization to deliver seamless, compliant, and impactful digital experiences across patient and customer touchpoints. We’re looking for a Principal Experience Designer to drive vision, strategy, and delivery for a Customer Experience (CX) product suite, blending UX/UI excellence with enterprise-scale collaboration, measurable outcomes, and mentorship of designers. In this role, you will serve as a key individual contributor and subject matter expert in a critical focus area for the organization. You’ll help define experience standards, shape product roadmaps, and bring an experimentation mindset to innovation workstreams. This role is ideal for a product/experience designer who thrives in complex, highly regulated environments and can influence across multiple stakeholder groups, as well as mentor junior team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, technology, operations, science, marketing, or related field.
  • 10+ years total experience with 7+ years in experience design, product design, or UX design.
  • End-to-end product ownership experience (vision, roadmap, execution, measurement).
  • Experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Strong stakeholder alignment skills and cross-functional collaboration experience.
  • Demonstrated mentorship/coaching of designers (direct or indirect).
  • Excellent communication skills to influence and drive change; proven leadership presence.
  • Experience working in agile environments or introducing agile best practices.
  • Experience collaborating with Legal, Compliance, and Privacy teams to meet governance and regulatory standards; ability to help evolve standards where needed.
  • Proven ability to innovate, experiment, and drive iteration in ambiguous contexts.
  • Strategic problem-solver who can balance near-term delivery with long-term vision.

  • Advanced degree (e.g., MBA or related graduate-level qualification) or equivalent experience.
  • Track record leading complex programs requiring strategic planning and operational execution.
  • Advanced knowledge of workflow tools, automation systems, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience building and managing a design system in a product ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Set the Experience Vision: Shape digital-forward experience design standards aligned to business priorities, industry trends, and product strategy.
  • Drive Product Impact: Partner with Experience Design leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to integrate design strategy with technical feasibility and operational realities.
  • Lead Innovation: Launch experimentation workstreams to test and evolve new product features and capabilities.
  • Champion the User: Define target users, synthesize research, prioritize features, and establish clear success metrics, balancing business value with exceptional end-user experiences.
  • Own Outcomes: Plan and execute against product roadmaps, delivery milestones, and adoption metrics, ensuring measurable business impact through sustained engagement.
  • Influence & Evangelize: Communicate the value of UX/UI and CX design to senior leaders; align stakeholders across functions and resolve conflicts to advance roadmaps.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with analytics, engineering/informatics, product leaders, and global counterparts to ensure alignment and knowledge-sharing.
  • Operational Excellence: Build business cases, support budget and funding needs, define product usage and system health requirements, and uphold compliance best practices.
  • Mentorship: Coach junior designers and cultivate a culture of collaboration, quality, and design excellence.
  • Compliance Mindset: Ensure design and delivery align with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies for a highly regulated industry.
