About The Position

The Principal Engineer operates under the general guidance of the Head of Automation Engineering, providing strategic direction and leading ongoing improvements in commercial and clinical manufacturing operations at the site. This role is responsible for all automation systems within defined Manufacturing areas, Technical Development, associated data systems, Industry 4.0 initiatives, and Recipe Driven Execution systems. The Principal Engineer will direct team members in leading process optimization projects, equipment selection, automation design, and commissioning support for all site operations. Requirements

  • Demonstrated mastery of automation and control systems within GMP manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to apply advanced technical and functional expertise to solve complex problems and improve system robustness.
  • Strong working knowledge of automation platforms such as DeltaV, PLC-based systems, PI/Data Historian systems, and associated integration technologies.
  • Proven capability in system commissioning, validation, lifecycle management, and change control.
  • Recognized technical leader and mentor who develops others through coaching, training, and example.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and influence skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Continuous learner who actively develops new skills to support evolving automation technologies and business.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and provides technical leadership for automation systems across defined manufacturing and technical development areas at the Holly Springs site.
  • Serves as a technical subject matter expert (SME) for automation systems, providing guidance and support across the broader manufacturing network as needed.
  • Defines and supports execution of the automation engineering support strategy to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operation of process equipment and utilities throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Leads and participates in cross-functional teams to ensure automation solutions meet operational, quality, data integrity, and regulatory requirements.
  • Supports and promotes Industry 4.0 and digital manufacturing initiatives, including data systems and advanced automation capabilities.
  • Champions Seqirus Values and Behaviors, fostering accountability, collaboration, and high performance.
  • Promotes diversity, inclusion, and knowledge sharing to achieve superior business outcomes.
  • Ensures compliance with all company policies, quality systems, regulatory requirements, and legal obligations, and drives the same expectations across the team.

  • Acts as an escalation point for challenging system, process, and integration issues.
