About The Position

Rockwell Collins Inc. d/b/a Collins Aerospace has an opening for a Principal Engineer, Software Engineering in Melbourne, FL. This is a 9/80 schedule; must work in the Melbourne, FL office Monday through Thursday and every other Friday. What YOU will do Develop, coordinate and conduct complex tests and debug control and diagnostic systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with other project team members in the planning, design, development and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software to ensure smooth operations on software engineering activities. Design and implement build procedures that are used to support hardware and software product development and function. Recommend changes in the selection and application of software production components to improve and develop software engineering activities. Determine end-user needs by analyzing system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements and input data acquisition.

Requirements

  • Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Electronics Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field and at least 8 years of progressive experience as a Software Engineering or related position focused on commercial aerospace certification and design assurance. In the alternative, at least a master’s degree or its equivalent in Electronics Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field and at least 5 years of experience in a Software Engineering or related position focused on commercial aerospace certification and design assurance would be acceptable.
  • Must possess at least 3 years of experience performing thread trace and trace gap analysis and applying DO-178 standards to develop and certify code for commercial aerospace applications.
  • Must possess at least 3 years of experience applying industry and regulatory standards such as DO-178B/C, SAE ARP4754A, and/or AS9100D to design and development projects.
  • Must possess at least 2 years of Requirements Management experience with DOORS and JAMA.
  • Must possess at least 2 years of experience with Atlassian Development Tools, e.g., JIRA.
  • Must possess at least 2 years of experience supporting customer audits, CMMI Appraisals, and AS9100D audits.
  • Non-US Person - Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the company’s immigration sponsorship now or in the future. The company will not offer immigration sponsorship for this position. The company will not seek an export authorization for this role.
