Overview Omega Technical Services is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead and support complex electrical engineering projects in North Las Vegas, NV , directly contributing to mission execution at the Nevada National Security Sites . Requirements

  • A minimum of 15 years’ experience in design, estimating, specification preparation, construction document preparation, related phases of engineering, and field experience in the inspection of construction projects.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Federal (including Department of Energy Orders), State, and Local codes and standards applicable to electrical engineering design.
  • Nevada Professional Engineer License, or ability to obtain through alternate state reciprocity, required.
  • Familiarity with MicroStation computer aided drafting applications is required.
  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a drug and breath alcohol test, along with a Motor Vehicle Record check.
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical (Power) Engineering with a minimum of 15 years’ experience in design, estimating, specification preparation, construction document preparation, related phases of engineering, and field experience in the inspection of construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Functional Requirements Documents (FRDs) and/or Project Requirements Specifications (PRS) for electrical projects and/or support the electrical component of building, utility, or equipment projects including project/task breakdowns, identification of requirements (functional, non-functional, operational requirements), and developing conceptual visualizations and illustrations of the layouts, site plans, and other perspective views to support the requirements document. FRD/PRS development includes working with integrated project teams (IPTs) and stakeholders to capture their input, research, developing using the existing process, use of existing templates and previous projects, performing FRD/PRS reviews and comment incorporation and resolution with IPT members, and finalizing the document for approvals.
  • Conduct construction document reviews as required.
  • Perform electrical high voltage design, including substation, transmission, and distribution design up to 138-kV (for medium/high voltage scope of work only)
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate electrical engineering and multi-disciplined team/design projects while engaged in the planning, design, and construction phases of engineering projects, including equipment manufacturers.
  • Prepare and modify electrical design drawings (e.g., single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagram layouts, raceway, lighting, and grounding).
  • Interpret and apply National, State, and Local codes and standards, and customer design requirements for the preparation of electrical design/construction documents, specifications, and system descriptions related to assigned tasks through project startup.
  • Prepare engineering cost and schedule estimates.
  • Generate and review the accuracy of design/evaluation calculations, and specifications.
