Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an Principal Electrical Engineer to work within the Radar Integrated Product Team (IPT) of the Deep Space Advanced Radar Capability (DARC) Site 2 program (DS2). The Radar IPT is responsible for the design, development and integration of the major RF and Analog Subsystems / Components of the DS2 System. This role will be reporting to the DS2 Radar IPT lead and working collaboratively with team members of the RADAR IPT through the major design (i.e., SRR, PDR, CDR) and integration milestone (integration point testing, assembly, checkout). The ideal candidate should have a strong foundational knowledge in the development lifecycle and experience with ground-based sensor exploitation or radar systems.

  • Collaboratively define and document Radar IPT hardware architecture.
  • Support the development of component specifications and procurement requirements.
  • Perform compliance analysis on key performance parameters.
  • Work within an RF lab environment to support characterization and measurement of equipment.
  • Work with engineering drafting to document the systems Bill of Material (BOM) and assembly drawings.
  • Support the development of integration plans and procedures.
  • Support assembly, integration and checkout of HW components.
  • Support design trade studies and component obsolescence review.
  • Occasionally present to engineering leadership
  • Active DoD Secret clearance at the time of application
  • 5 years with a Bachelors in Science, 3 years with a Masters in Science degree
  • Experience with LNA's
  • RF signal chain analysis experience
  • Ability to work within an RF lab environment
  • RF test equipment and measurement experience (i.e., noise figure, phase noise)
  • Experience with component integration and checkout
  • Experience with reading and developing engineering drawings and electronic BOM's
  • Experience with Atlassian tool sets (JIRA, Confluence)
  • Familiar with Model Based Systems Engineering principles
  • Experience working within CAMEO
  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestically
  • DARC architecture familiarity and system knowledge
  • Previous experience with one of the following:
  • Parabolic Antennas
  • Traveling Wave Tube Amplifiers
  • Arbitrary Waveform Generator (AWG) experience
  • RF over fiber optic media converters
  • Cryogenically Cooled LNA's
  • High speed analog to digital converters
  • Ability to travel up to 25% internationally and domestically
