Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or related); Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience working in the medical device industry with some focus on development of capital systems.
  • Expertise in designing for and testing to 60601-1 and its collateral standards.
  • Skilled problem solver proficient in methodologies such as Shainin, DMAIC, or 8D.
  • Excellent hands-on electronics prototyping and design capabilities.
  • Proficient with lab equipment including power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal/spectrum/logic analyzers.
  • Proven experience leading complex electrical projects and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with imaging systems.
  • Actively taking part in 60601-1 or 60601-1-2 Standards Working Groups or Technical Committees.
  • Background in embedded programming (MCUs and/or FPGAs) using C, C++, Verilog, or VHDL.
  • Experience with signal processing and analog-to-digital conversion, especially for imaging sensors.
  • Hands-on experience managing suppliers and/or contract manufacturers during the development process.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders without formal authority.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical hardware design, development, integration, and 60601 testing for capital systems and their accessories.
  • Translate high-level user needs into actionable system and technical requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional experts across a wide range of disciplines to solve complex engineering challenges.
  • Partner with third-party designers, suppliers, and contract manufacturers to deliver high-quality engineering solutions at an accelerated pace.
  • Demonstrate strong cross-functional collaboration, ability to influence without authority, and project management to enable highly effective teams.
  • Act as a self-starter who embraces ambiguity and tackles loosely defined challenges—rallying teams to deliver measurable business results.
