About The Position

The Principal Director, RIA Business Development is responsible for driving deeper adoption of Envestnet's Managed Account (MA) solutions within the Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) channel — with a primary focus on the firm's largest Tamarac and Unified Managed Platform (UMP) clients (typically >$5B AUM). This senior role partners closely with Account Executives (AEs) and Envestnet's broader distribution, product, and technology teams to expand the usage of Envestnet's integrated wealth management ecosystem across managed accounts, overlay services, and financial wellness solutions. As a strategic relationship leader, the Principal Director leverages deep industry expertise, data insights, and consultative engagement to unlock growth, strengthen enterprise relationships, and ensure Envestnet remains a trusted partner to leading RIA firms.

Requirements

  • 10 -15 years of experience in financial services, preferably within advisory platform, asset management, or fintech distribution.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Deep understanding of the RIA business model, managed account ecosystem, and advisory technology landscape.
  • Proven experience managing enterprise client relationships and driving adoption of complex financial or technology solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner across sales, product, and service teams to deliver integrated client outcomes.
  • Strong business acumen with excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce and sales enablement tools such as Seismic and Calendly.
  • Willingness to travel up to 60-80 %.
  • Strategic, analytical, and highly collaborative mindset with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Deepen Managed Account Adoption: Lead strategic initiatives to grow SMA/UMA/strategist usage and overlay services within top Tamarac and UMP clients, with a focus on the largest RIAs (> $5B AUM).
  • Partner with Account Executives: Collaborate with AEs to develop and execute coordinated account plans that drive platform expansion and Managed Account growth across shared client relationships.
  • Advance Platform Utilization: Promote Envestnet's broader wealth ecosystem, including trading and reporting technology, tax overlay, direct indexing, and Financial Wellness offerings (Alternatives, Credit, Insurance).
  • Strategic Growth Leadership: Identify new product adoption opportunities and cross- sell pathways within complex RIA enterprises; provide insights to inform territory strategy and product roadmap.
  • Client Relationship Management: Serve as a senior relationship point of contact for priority RIA accounts, coordinating across internal COEs, service, and product specialists to deliver a seamless client experience.
  • Data-Driven Targeting: Use Salesforce, Seismic, and internal analytics to track Managed Account penetration, identify growth opportunities, and measure adoption outcomes.
  • Enablement and Best Practices: Partner with internal stakeholders to develop playbooks, case studies, and best practices that enhance AE collaboration and client engagement across the RIA segment.
  • Compliance and Governance: Uphold Envestnet's legal, risk, and compliance standards, including timely completion of training and adherence to internal business policies and procedures.
