The Principal, Consultant is a senior-level technical leader responsible for delivering complex, multi-discipline projects and serving as a trusted subject matter expert within your discipline. You may serve as the Project Lead on selected projects, where youâll be accountable for delivering work profitably, maintaining alignment with scope, and evaluating project health regularly to identify risks early and keep work on track. Youâll lead discipline-specific design efforts, elevate quality, and ensure coordinated, high-performance project delivery across teams. Youâll document client-specific processes and deviations from TEECOM standards to support onboarding, delegation, and consistent delivery. Youâll strengthen TEECOMâs foundations by modeling best practices, contributing to discipline documentation, authoring Pull Requests, and supporting improvements to tools, standards, and workflows. Youâll collaborate closely with Group Leads, Team Leads to ensure consistent application of standards and to resolve challenges. Externally, youâll cultivate strong client relationshipsâserving as a trusted technical advisor through clear communication, reliable execution, and sound engineering judgment. Youâll also contribute to pursuits and interviews, shape technical narratives, and participate in client discussions that strengthen TEECOMâs credibility and help win strategic work. Internally, youâll mentor engineers and production team members by providing technical guidance, design reviews, and actionable feedback that improves project outcomes and supports their growth. While not a people manager, you play a key role in developing TEECOMâs capability and strengthening discipline excellence. Technical Leadership, Mentorship, and Improving the TEECOM System As a Principal, Consultant, your impact comes from strong technical leadership, supporting the development of others, and contributing to improvements in TEECOMâs systems and discipline practices. You contribute in three key ways: Technical Leadership You elevate project outcomes by leading technical decisions and ensuring design quality, coordination, and documentation meet TEECOMâs standards. You guide Designers, engineers, and production team members by providing clear rationale, helping them navigate design challenges, and reinforcing disciplined workflows. You build trust with clients through clear communication, reliable follow-through, and a strong command of your discipline. Mentor and Support Engineers You strengthen project teams by coaching engineers and Designers, developing their judgment, and helping them improve design clarity and documentation quality. When serving as a Mentor, you broaden your menteeâs experience by involving them in client conversations, site walks, design reviews, and documentation discussions. You accelerate their growth by setting clear expectations, delegating meaningful work, and providing timely, constructive feedbackâincluding through participation in quarterly performance assessments. Improve the TEECOM System You reinforce firmwide consistency by contributing to discipline standards, templates, and documentation through clear, well-organized Pull Requests. You identify workflow or coordination gaps and propose improvements that enhance clarity, efficiency, and scalability. You capture client nuances, lessons learned, and best practices to strengthen onboarding, delegation, and cross-team alignment. What Success in this Position Looks Like You deliver coordinated, accurate, and well-documented discipline-specific and multi-discipline work on time, on budget, and to TEECOMâs quality standards. You identify risks early, communicate them clearly, and make sound decisions that minimize rework and maintain project momentum. You maintain strong utilization and contribute to financially successful projects within the scope and expectations set by the Project Lead or Group Lead. You keep project documentation complete, accurate, and currentâincluding design decisions, meeting notes, scope clarifications, and updates to the Design Decision Log (DDL). You build client trust through clear communication and reliable follow-through, supporting pursuits by providing scope input, drafting or refining discipline fee proposals, and participating in interviews when needed. You actively participate in client relationship development through networking events and conferences, direct outreach to clients and partners, and sharing intel gathered through documented interactions. You strengthen TEECOMâs system by offering constructive feedback on templates, tools, and workflows and by contributing targeted Pull Requests that improve clarity and consistency. You mentor Designers, engineers, and production team members through hands-on guidance, markups, and feedback that build judgment and strong documentation habits. When paired as a Mentor, you meet regularly with your mentee, involve them in meaningful project activities, delegate with clear expectations, and contribute performance input to support their development. You contribute to team and discipline knowledge through design reviews, internal discussions, and sharing lessons learned. You stay current with industry trends and manufacturer updates and share relevant insights with your teams. You collaborate effectively with Project Leads, Group Leads, and cross-discipline teammates to resolve coordination issues and support high-quality delivery.
