Principal Consultant, Analytics

Xerxes GlobalBloomington, MN
Hybrid

About The Position

Blue Ops is an M&A and FinOps consulting firm that partners with Private Equity and Investment Banks clients, supporting them hands-on during the different stages of the M&A cycle. Their Analytics practice focuses on turning operational and financial data into actionable insights through a 4D delivery methodology. This involves building KPI frameworks, KPI and operational dashboards, and reporting foundations to support value creation, executive visibility, ongoing business operations, and exit readiness. The Principal Consultant, Analytics is a hybrid leader responsible for the entire lifecycle of data transformation, from initial sales conversations to strategic discovery and oversight of complex analytics solutions. This role involves managing high-stakes client relationships, leading multidisciplinary teams of consultants, and serving as the final line of defense for project delivery and escalations.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in Data & Analytics consulting, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management capacity.
  • Proven ability to lead discovery workshops, effectively manage diverse stakeholder opinions, and guide teams toward a unified technical vision.
  • Superior negotiation, conflict resolution, and active listening skills. You possess a high degree of empathy and can navigate high-pressure environments with composure.
  • A unique ability to translate complex technical data concepts into clear, understandable business language for non-technical leaders and stakeholders.
  • A strong and practical understanding of the modern data stack, including cloud data warehousing, ETL processes, and business intelligence (BI) tools, with a focus on applying them to solve real-world business problems.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with account executives to scope technical solutions, estimate level of effort (LOE), and draft Statements of Work (SOW).
  • Identify "pull-through" opportunities within existing accounts to expand the firm’s footprint.
  • Confidently present data strategies to C-suite stakeholders (CDO, CTO, CFO).
  • Lead high-impact workshops to unearth "the question behind the question," translating vague business pain points into crisp, actionable analytical requirements.
  • Design the end-to-end journey from raw data to business insight, prioritizing high-value use cases (e.g., EBITDA expansion, churn reduction, or operational efficiency).
  • Collaborate with clients to whiteboard "what success looks like," defining KPIs, metric logic, and the user experience for final data products.
  • Act as the SME for data storytelling, ensuring dashboards serve the specific needs of executive personas and drive actual decision-making.
  • Serve as the bridge between client stakeholders and internal engineering teams—ensuring the backend build is strictly aligned with the frontend business goals.
  • Own the project budget, timeline, and resource allocation.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for client friction; turn "red" projects "green" through proactive communication and tactical pivoting.
  • Ensure the final product isn't just "technically sound" but actually drives measurable business ROI for the client.
  • Lead a team of data engineers and analysts, fostering their technical growth and professional development.
  • Promote a collaborative environment that balances high-performance delivery with consultant well-being.
