About The Position

Principal, Biorepository Operations – Precision Medicine Position is fully remote but if local to Waltham, MA there could be opportunities for in person meetings. Job Summary The Principal, Biorepository Operations – Precision Medicine provides enterprise-level leadership and strategic oversight for biorepository operations supporting precision medicine programs and research registries. This role owns the end-to-end operational framework governing the biospecimen lifecycle—from clinical site collection through logistics, biorepository oversight, laboratory processing coordination, data generation interfaces, and long-term inventory management. This role reports to the Head of Precision Medicine and works closely with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and other members of the senior leadership team to ensure operational alignment with scientific priorities, clinical objectives, regulatory requirements, and customer commitments. The Principal operates with significant autonomy and influence, shaping strategy, capabilities, and execution across matrixed organizations.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree required (MS, MPH, MSc, in a scientific field)
  • 10+ years of experience in biorepository operations, biospecimen management, clinical research, or precision medicine.
  • Demonstrated enterprise-level leadership and influence in matrixed environments.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD or equivalent degree in a scientific field.
  • Experience supporting precision medicine programs, registries, observational research, or large-scale biospecimen initiatives.
  • Experience contributing to business development and customer-facing solution design.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive enterprise strategy for biorepository operations supporting precision medicine initiatives.
  • Establish operating frameworks, governance models, and best practices to ensure scalability, quality, and compliance.
  • Anticipate future scientific, clinical, and customer needs and translate them into operational capabilities.
  • Provide strategic oversight of the full biospecimen lifecycle including, clinical site collection, laboratory analysis, data generation and quality control, customer delivery and long-term storage.
  • Ensure seamless integration across multiple internal and contract partners including Clinical Operations, Analytic Laboratories, Informatics, Data Management, Quality, and additional partners.
  • Set expectations for performance, quality, and reliability across all biospecimen operations.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Head of Precision Medicine, CMO, and senior leadership.
  • Influence leaders and teams across matrixed organizations without reliance on direct authority.
  • Represent biorepository operations in governance forums and strategic planning discussions.
  • Ensure compliance with GCP, IRB, ISO, and precision medicine governance frameworks.
  • Partner with Quality and Compliance teams to maintain audit readiness and manage risk.
  • Champion data integrity, traceability, and documentation rigor.
  • Set strategic direction for LIMS/BIMS, inventory systems, and analytics platforms.
  • Collaborate with IT and Informatics teams to improve system integration and data visibility.
  • Promote adoption of innovative technologies to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Serve as an operational SME in customer meetings and governance discussions.
  • Support proposal development, feasibility assessments, and solution design.
  • Contribute to the evolution of precision medicine and biorepository service offerings.
  • Enable and develop leaders and teams across biorepository operations.
