A Day in the Life The Librarian provides strategic leadership and operational management of literature resources, knowledge systems, and information services for MiniMed’s R&D, Clinical, and other teams. This role ensures compliant, efficient access to scientific and medical evidence in support of global regulatory submissions, clinical evaluations, post‑market surveillance, and internal research initiatives. The Librarian partners closely with cross‑functional stakeholders to deliver robust information solutions, optimize literature workflows, and maintain high‑quality evidence management practices. This position is an exciting opportunity to work with Medtronic's Diabetes business. Medtronic has announced its intention to separate the Diabetes division to promote future growth and innovation within the business and reallocate investments and resources across Medtronic, subject to applicable information and consultation requirements. Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree and minimum of 7 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR PhD with 3 years relevant experience.
  • 4+ years’ experience in a library/information center, ideally within the biotechnology, biomedical, pharmaceutical, or medical industry.

  • Experience managing library systems and content; professional information research experience preferred.
  • High computer literacy, including SharePoint development; experience with online databases.
  • Strong written, verbal, and online communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.

  • Demonstrated expertise in literature search strategy, SLR processes, evidence synthesis, and regulatory submission support.
  • Experience with AI‑enabled literature management tools and automated screening platforms.
  • High proficiency with medical and scientific databases (e.g., PubMed, Embase, Scopus) and reference management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of copyright law, permissions workflows, and scientific content licensing.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, recommend, and lead implementation of systems to provide access to electronic literature and databases. Benchmark systems with industry standards and address technical issues.
  • Identify, acquire, and manage literature and databases Ensure systems, collection, and data are accurate and can be accessed in a seamless manner
  • Develop, execute, and document complex literature search strategies Conduct systematic literature reviews (SLR), evidence synthesis, and quality checks to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Manage acquisition, cataloging, and organization of scientific literature and databases, ensuring seamless access for internal teams.
  • Maintain and audit search criteria and documentation to ensure consistency Lead evaluation, development, and optimization of literature management platforms (e.g., ReadCube, EndNote, Quosa).
  • Partner with software vendors and IT to implement system enhancements and AI‑enabled search, screening, and data‑extraction capabilities.
  • Ensure that library systems, metadata, tagging structures, and data architecture follow best‑practice standards.
  • Provide research support, reference services, and document delivery to internal groups Track scientific literature for safety surveillance and contribute to therapy-level literature summaries
  • Offer consultation and training on literature tools, copyright compliance, evidence workflows, and best practices Serve as copyright subject-matter expert, managing permissions, licensing, and appropriate use of scientific content
  • Ensure all information practices meet compliance requirements Lead metrics generation for library operations, literature volume, cost analysis, usage trends, and system performance
  • Support department budget planning, vendor management, and financial tracking for literature resources Ensure adherence to copyright, and information best practices
