Primary Montessori Assistant We are accepting applications for a Primary Montessori Assistant for SY25-26 who is passionate about supporting students and staff in a bilingual environment. Job Overview The Primary Montessori Assistant supports the school’s mission by preparing our students to become leaders and lifelong learners. This person is responsible for supporting teachers and students, covering for teachers and aides during lunch periods and absences, maintaining the classroom environment, providing interventions as needed.

Requirements

  • Montessori Assistant training or experience preferred
  • Associate’s Degree or higher
  • Fluent in Spanish; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Experience working with primary students in an educational setting
  • Experience working with students of various abilities

Responsibilities

  • Report on time to the assigned classroom to receive teachers directions of the day.
  • Collaborate with teacher(s) to support the bilingual Montessori curriculum and maintain and manage a positive learning environment
  • Learn or maintain knowledge of Montessori terminology and methodology
  • Assist the lead teacher(s) with providing the children with a “prepared environment” by ensuring that the classroom is inviting complete, and clean on a daily basis
  • Under teacher’s instructions, assist the lead teacher (s) to make Montessori materials diligently and finish as soon as possible in order to be ready for students' instruction.
  • Be responsible for the welfare, safety, and encourage independence of students and adhere to all LAMB policies and procedures
  • Assist with students’ routine care, including snacks and lunch while helping develop independence
  • Monitoring students in the play time indoor or outdoor activities keeping them safe
  • Assist with individual and/or group activities to stimulate children’s social, emotional, and academic growth, according guidance of the teachers and Montessori philosophy
  • Assist students with completing different work cycles, choosing work, and returning work after tasks are complete
  • Assist with managing the behavior of students including crisis management according to Montessori philosophy, promoting collaboration and grace and courtesy through basic lessons
  • Collaborate with the lead teacher to plan special activities and arrange and supervise field trips
  • Establish and maintain positive, cooperative working relationships with children, parents, and co-workers
  • Participate in meetings, trainings, and/or planning cooperatives to fully serve children’s needs
  • Serve as a substitute teacher in the lead teacher’s absence
  • Be available to assist with other duties as assigned
