About The Position

Works under the supervision of the Director and/or Manager of Perianesthesia Services and assures provision of care to the assigned patient population in a professional manner, utilizing the nursing process and principles of continuous quality improvement in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team. The Charge Nurse is responsible for assigning duties, examining work for accuracy, completeness, and conformance to policies and procedures. The Charge Nurse is also responsible for successful organizational and administrative operation of the assigned shifts in accordance to federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations. They also assure the highest degree of quality patient care is maintained at all times. Additional responsibilities may include but not limited to: Delegates assignments and provides supervision for the staff in accordance to their level of training and the acuity of the patients. Functions in a Resource/Expert role for staff and provides assistance and support as well as immediate on the spot education Participation in ongoing feedback related to self, individual, unit and organizational performance improvement. Integration of patient care standards and protocols into personal practice and assisting other RN’s.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years acute nursing experience required.
  • Must possess leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess skills in time management and organization.
  • Must have proven ability to maintain professional conduct and confidentiality in the care of patients and management of staff.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
  • Able to work and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effectively manage, prioritize and delegate patient care.
  • Completing work assignments and other duties, as assigned.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of common disease process, treatment modalities and interventions.
  • Current active California Registered Nurse license, American Heart Association (AHA) BLS, and American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS required.
  • Have above average computer skills, monitors, printer, fax, photocopier, pneumatic tube system, Omnicell, telephone, IV pump, PCA pumps.
  • Must be able to perform the essential physical requirements of the job.
