About The Position

North Star Behavioral Health is a leading behavioral health facility located in Anchorage, Alaska. We provide comprehensive programs for children, teens, and adults facing psychiatric or substance use challenges. Additionally, we offer specialized military care through the Chris Kyle Patriots Hospital, serving First Responders, Service Members, Veterans, and their families. Deliver personalized treatment plans tailored to patients across the lifespan. Work within a multidisciplinary team committed to exceptional patient outcomes. Manage your patients care, including assessments, diagnostics, treatment plans, and follow-ups. Gain experience working with diverse patient populations and complex medical comorbidities. Setting: Inpatient behavioral hospital. Type/Schedule: Part time, PRN, weekend, and holiday coverage Patient population: Ages 6-65.

Requirements

  • Active Alaska NP/APRN license or the ability to obtain licensure.
  • Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • AANPCB Board Certification.
  • Strong collaboration and communication abilities, with a patient-first approach.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 1 year of post-training experience in an inpatient or acute care setting preferred (behavioral health experience is a plus).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive medical assessments, including initial history and physicals (H&Ps) within 24 hours of admission, follow-ups, and discharge planning.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, and support staff to create integrated treatment plans addressing medical and mental health needs.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings to ensure cohesive and comprehensive patient care.
  • Co-manage patients with complex medical comorbidities alongside mental health providers.
  • Educate patients and families on medical conditions, medications, and lifestyle adjustments to enhance overall health.
  • Provide medical consults and recommend diagnostic tests and treatments as needed.
