About The Position

The Board of Trustees of the Maine Community College System (MCCS) invites applications and nominations for the position of President of Central Maine Community College (CMCC) located in Auburn, Maine. The college boasts innovative approaches to programs and funding, outstanding locations and facilities, as well as championship athletic teams. CMCC currently serves approximately 5,000 credit students annually from a broad geographic area, with anticipated growth in both credit and non-credit education. CMCC is independently accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education and is part of Maine’s seven-member community college system. As a priority, the Board of Trustees seeks a President who is a skilled communicator and has the ability, dedication, and vision to continue the college’s commitment to enhancing student engagement and success as well as delivering high-quality education and training. The Board also seeks a President who can lead CMCC as the college expands its role in economic and workforce development. CMCC appreciates a demonstrated commitment to diversity and an inclusive working and learning atmosphere. The college and the system are committed to building and sustaining an equitable working and learning environment where diversity among students, staff and faculty is valued. The President has the responsibility of institutional leadership, long-term planning, and fostering a climate that is conducive to learning by encouraging the professional development and engagement of faculty and staff. Additionally, the president will work closely with internal and external stakeholders including the colleges’ well-established and active foundation. The president will also serve as an active member of the MCCS system leadership team in achieving the goals and objectives outlined in the MCCS strategic plan. Candidates must be able to demonstrate outstanding leadership skills in strategic planning, team building, participatory management, and the implementation of educational and economic partnerships. Candidates are also expected to understand the role of the college in the community and be willing to play a leadership role in promoting opportunities in the region.

Requirements

  • a minimum of a master’s degree and is currently enrolled in a doctoral program
  • a combination of administrative, teaching, or management experience
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate outstanding leadership skills in strategic planning, team building, participatory management, and the implementation of educational and economic partnerships.
  • Candidates are also expected to understand the role of the college in the community and be willing to play a leadership role in promoting opportunities in the region.
