About The Position

President & Chief Executive Officer Jewish Federation of Howard County (JFHC) The Jewish Federation of Howard County (JFHC) is seeking a dynamic and visionary President/CEO to lead our growing, diverse community into its next chapter. As the primary driver of our mission, you will translate strategy into tangible action, ensuring the long-term health and vibrancy of Jewish life in Howard County. Our Mission - To support and serve the Jewish community of Howard County while fostering connections with the State of Israel and Jews worldwide. Our Vision - To be the unifying, dynamic resource in Howard County, advancing the well-being of the Jewish community through collaboration with Jewish-based and other community organizations. Our Strategic Purpose - We build community by caring for, supporting, and enriching Jewish life within Howard County. The Federation welcomes all individuals who consider Howard County their Jewish community to participate in, volunteer for, or who contribute financially to Federation programs and activities.

Requirements

5–8 years of experience in Jewish Federations or non-profit fundraising, including significant supervisory roles of a team.
Demonstrated success in managing annual operating budgets and securing diverse funding streams.
Ability to work effectively with a Board of Directors to shape and carry out an organization’s mission.
Bachelor’s degree required
Proficiency in current multi-media communication and CRM software (we currently use Constant Contact and DonorPerfect).
Deep commitment to Jewish culture, values, traditions, and celebrations.
Superior skills in cultivating and stewarding relationships with myriad stakeholders.
Flexible, creative ability to pivot resources to meet emerging challenges.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Governance
Visionary Growth: Define and execute short- and long-term goals with Board assistance that adapt to an ever-changing landscape.
Culture Catalyst: Foster a culture of excellence, transparency, and teamwork among staff, volunteers, and the Board.
Board Development: Lead strategic planning, assist with Board recruitment, and ensure organizational compliance with all bylaws and policies.
Community Engagement & Advocacy
Coalition Building: Develop constructive relationships with Jewish organizations, faith leaders, and civic officials across Maryland.
Representation: Serve as the professional spokesperson for the Federation and the key responder to antisemitism within the community.
Advocacy: Represent Jewish causes and values to government officials and at community events.
Resource Development
Fundraising Strategy: Oversee the annual campaign, endowment and legacy giving, and special campaigns in collaboration with the Development Director.
Financial Sustainability: Identify and secure public/private grants and manage sponsorships.
Operational & Financial Excellence
Staff Development & Leadership: Foster a culture of excellence and continuous learning by mentoring staff and providing the professional development necessary to achieve high performance. Provide clear direction and expectations, ensuring workloads are achievable while aligning individual growth with the collective success of the JFHC.
Performance & Morale Management: Proactively manage performance issues with fairness and transparency, making consistent efforts to preserve team morale and maintain a healthy organizational culture.
Financial Stewardship: Develop and monitor the annual operating budget while maintaining rigorous financial controls to ensure the long-term health and sustainability of the JFHC.
