About The Position

The President/CEO is a versatile, mission-driven leader responsible for strategic vision, fundraising, stakeholder relations, and operational oversight, bridging the gap between the board and staff, and focused on achieving the organization's social impact. The President/CEO champions health equity by advancing inclusive policies, addressing systemic barriers, and ensuring access to quality care for all communities. The President/CEO sets the direction, inspires teams, manages budgets, builds partnerships, and serves as the public face, ensuring resources align with goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field, such as social work, health administration, public health, non-profit management, or related areas.
  • Proven executive leadership experience in a nonprofit or for-profit organization.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in leadership, management, and/or social services, with a strong track record of success.
  • Deep commitment to the mission and cultural alignment with the organization's values.
  • Demonstrated understanding of public health, social determinants of health, and health equity.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing complex budgets.
  • Experience in fund development, grant management, and financial planning.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic partnership development and community engagement to diversify funding sources and strengthen impact.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans.
  • Ability to take calculated risks and make timely decisions.
  • Capability for innovation, curiosity, and problem-solving, with the ability to embrace ambiguity in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience working effectively with diverse populations and stakeholders.
  • Ability to use exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to inspire and mobilize staff, volunteers, board members, and funders.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the board and staff to develop and implement a sustainability-focused strategic plan that aligns with the organization's mission and vision, while considering the evolving needs of the community and external environment.
  • Serve as a thought leader and advocate for health equity and community wellbeing.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for growth and expansion, while maintaining a focus on quality and impact.
  • Ensure the financial health of the organization through effective resource development, fundraising, grant management, budgeting, and financial planning.
  • Assess financial health and optimize resource allocation with deep financial literacy and acumen; able to anticipate and mitigate financial risk.
  • Cultivate relationships to diversify and grow revenue streams, including grants, contracts, donations, and partnerships.
  • Oversee daily operations, staff, programs, and organizational performance in collaboration with an established executive-level leadership team, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Establish and reach performance targets, ensuring accountability to outcomes.
  • Make timely and informed decisions about resource allocation and programming that align with the strategic priorities.
  • Establish and maintain clear communication channels within the organization and lead, mentor, and support a diverse and high-performing leadership team.
  • Foster an inclusive culture of trust, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement where staff feel valued and empowered.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, government agencies, and other relevant external stakeholders.
  • Advocate for the needs of the organization's clients and the broader community, promoting policies and programs that address social needs.
  • Represent the organization at public forums, community events, media engagements, coalition meetings, and conferences, building its reputation and visibility with policymakers.
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to articulate the organization's work and value in a compelling manner.
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to set the organization’s strategic direction and ensure effective governance.
  • Act as liaison between board and staff and provide timely and transparent reporting on organizational performance and challenges.
  • Foster relationships with potential future board members.
