About The Position

Perry Local Schools desires to employ an Ohio licensed teacher to serve as a Special Education Teacher at Perry Preschool, located inside Perry Elementary School. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Intervention Specialist to lead an integrated preschool classroom. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education and special education, with a focus on creating an inclusive, supportive, and stimulating environment for young learners of diverse abilities. Responsibilities include designing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), collaborating with general education teachers, therapists, and parents, and utilizing evidence-based teaching strategies to address the unique needs of each child. The Intervention Specialist will also foster social, emotional, and academic growth, ensuring all students reach their full potential in a nurturing, inclusive setting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education.
  • Early Childhood (P-3) License and Intervention Specialist (K-12) License
  • Strong understanding of child development and early intervention strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators and specialists.
  • Proficiency in using technology to support student learning and maintain records.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and standing.
  • Ability to move around the classroom and school environment to support student need

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify students' needs.
  • Use data-driven approaches to evaluate student progress and adjust interventions accordingly.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and other specialists to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Develop and implement evidence-based intervention programs tailored to individual student needs.
  • Provide direct instruction to students in small groups or one-on-one settings.
  • Integrate interventions within the general education curriculum and collaborate with teachers to support inclusive practices.
  • Implement strategies to support students' social-emotional development and positive behavior.
  • Work with school counselors and psychologists to address behavioral issues and develop behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
  • Maintain open communication with parents, providing regular updates on student progress and strategies for support at home.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists.
  • Work collaboratvely with Educational Associates to support student needs, delegating in a productive and effective manner
  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development sessions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and intervention outcomes.
  • Prepare reports for IEP meetings, progress reviews, and other required documentation.
  • Stay current with best practices and research in early childhood intervention and special education.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and training opportunities provided by the school or district.
