About The Position

The Prep Cook is responsible for supporting the kitchen team by ensuring that all ingredients are cleaned, chopped, portioned, and properly stored for service. This role helps maintain kitchen efficiency and consistency, allowing Line Cooks and Chefs to focus on execution. Prep Cooks at Don Julio Restaurant Group must demonstrate a commitment to sanitation, speed, and teamwork—aligned with our signature “Culture of Yes,” which promotes a positive, guest-first attitude in every role.

Requirements

  • Some prior kitchen experience preferred but not required—willing to train motivated individuals.
  • Strong attention to detail and solid knife handling skills.
  • Dependable and team-oriented with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Must maintain proper uniform and grooming standards in accordance with Don Julio policies.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Wash, peel, chop, and store vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients as directed.
  • Prepare sauces, dressings, salsas, and other food components based on kitchen needs.
  • Label, date, and store all prepared food items following food safety protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the prep station, including tools and equipment.
  • Assist with inventory and restocking prep areas.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures in compliance with company and local health codes.
  • Support Line Cooks with prep needs during peak service times.
  • Uphold Don Julio’s brand values of pride, passion, and quality in every task.
  • Assist in receiving and organizing kitchen deliveries as needed.
  • Perform other kitchen duties as assigned to ensure smooth back-of-house operations.
