About The Position

The Prep Cook / Dishwasher is responsible for supporting overall kitchen operations through food preparation and sanitation. This hybrid role assists with daily ingredient preparation whilealso maintaining cleanliness of dishes, equipment, and kitchen areas. The position ensures efficient kitchen workflow, adherence to food safety standards, and a clean, organized environment for culinary staff.

Requirements

  • Previous kitchen or food prep experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and knife skills
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Wash, peel, chop, slice, and portion ingredients
  • Measure and prepare ingredients according to recipes
  • Assist with basic cooking tasks (sauces, stocks, vegetables, proteins)
  • Maintain clean and organized prep stations
  • Follow food safety and sanitation standards
  • Label and properly store food items
  • Rotate inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out)
  • Assist with receiving and stocking deliveries
  • Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas
  • Support line cooks during peak service times as needed
  • Operate dishwashing machine and/or wash dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, and pans by hand
  • Ensure all items are cleaned, sanitized, and stored properly
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dish area
  • Remove trash and recycling; maintain waste disposal areas
  • Sweep and mop kitchen floors as scheduled
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, worktables, walls, and storage areas
  • Monitor and restock cleaning supplies
  • Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines
