About The Position

Job Description We offer a merit-based work-from-home program based on job responsibilities. After initial training in-person, this specific role could have the flexibility to work from home up to 3 days per week. Please note we are not currently hiring fully remote positions. Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated insurance carrier, is seeking a predictive modeler to join our analytics teams. The position requires the person to: Use statistical or machine learning techniques to build models that address business needs and comply with regulatory requirements Work with large, complex data sets and develop a working knowledge of Auto-Owners data structures and metrics Conduct ad-hoc analysis and present results clearly at multiple-levels of stakeholders through visual displays of quantitative information Create clear and easy to understand documentation for models Monitor model performance and implement iterative improvements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Operations Research, Economics, Electrical Engineering, etc.)
  • Outstanding problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • An understanding of statistical modeling or data science concepts, especially clustering, regression, and classification techniques.
  • Aptitude and willingness to learn new things
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Please note that the ability to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship is a requirement.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with common coding languages (Python, R, SQL, etc.)
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline

Responsibilities
