About The Position

The PreCollege Teaching Assistant position provides support to the program’s academic classes. Teaching Assistants enhance learning objectives through the use of their talents, skills and creativity, assist in managing the courses attendance, and oversee evening/weekend Open Studio sessions. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of the job: The PreCollege Teaching Assistant position provides support to the program’s academic classes. Teaching Assistants enhance learning objectives through the use of their talents, skills and creativity, assist in managing the courses attendance, and oversee evening/weekend Open Studio sessions. This position works directly with minors. Teaching Assistants may be required to work morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend hours, and must have full availability through the duration of both the training week and entire PreCollege Program, (Monday, June 14 to Saturday, July 18, 2026). Teaching Assistants cannot work other on-campus jobs while PreCollege is in session. While we aren’t able to invite every applicant to interview, selected candidates will be contacted beginning Monday, March 16. We anticipate extending job offers after April 1.

Requirements

  • Must enjoy working, encouraging and supporting teen students.
  • Must be enthusiastic about Ringling College of Art and Design; maintain professional attitude at all times.
  • Must be reliable, punctual and able to follow through on assignments.
  • Must have excellent written communication skills.
  • Must have excellent verbal communication skills, both in person and over US telephone systems.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Must have full availability throughout the duration of the program.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends.
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Must be enrolled at Ringling College of Art and Design
  • Must provide two names of faculty members willing to provide recommendations.
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the delivery of lesson plans and workshops.
  • Serves as a mentor for students in and outside the classroom.
  • Provides classroom support such as taking attendance, setting up equipment and obtaining supplies.
  • Attends meetings and events as assigned.
  • Assists in inventory, preparation and distribution of materials.
  • Documents student progress; reports progress to PreCollege Coordinators.
  • Evenings and weekends required, work hours extend up to 25 hours per week.
  • Other duties as assigned.
