About The Position

A day in this role You arrive to a clean, well-organized cell of Swiss-style CNC lathes, review the production plan, and move straight into an efficient setup. You load tools, dial in offsets, and run first-article pieces. With a practiced eye, you deburr critical edges, verify dimensions with micrometers and height stands, and capture results in our ERP and machine monitoring systems. When launching a new medical instrument or implant, you partner with programmers to debug code at the machine and fine-tune setups for robust, repeatable production. Throughout the shift you guide teammates on best practices, keep setup documentation current under change control, and drive on-time delivery without compromising quality. Core responsibilities Set up Swiss-style CNC lathes, execute changeovers, adjust tooling/offsets, and perform on-machine CNC program debugging. Operate and maintain Swiss machines, finishing equipment, fixtures, and hand tools; perform precise burr removal. Interpret blueprints, routers, setup files, inspection check-sheets, and work instructions to make sound machining decisions. Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, height stands, and comparators to confirm both functional and cosmetic requirements. Use ERP and machine monitoring to manage work orders, track production, and record quality checks electronically. Collaborate with CNC programmers, providing clear feedback; ensure setup documentation remains accurate per change control procedures. Coach team members within the cell to maximize equipment utilization and production attainment; assist with training as needed. Champion continuous improvement for quality and delivery; execute the production plan to meet customer due dates. Tools and systems you’ll use Swiss-style lathes (experience with Citizen, Tsugami, or similar preferred) Finishing machines, fixtures, and hand tools Calipers, micrometers, height stands, comparators ERP platform and machine monitoring software for work orders and quality documentation

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; advanced technical training preferred.
  • 5+ years of hands-on Swiss-style lathe operation in a manufacturing environment.
  • Deep knowledge of machinery, tooling, measuring, and gauging equipment; strong grasp of production processes.
  • Expertise in setups, blueprint reading, routers, and setup files.
  • Understanding of part requirements to ensure both functional performance and cosmetic quality.
  • Basic CNC programming knowledge.
  • Clear verbal communication across production, management, and technical teams; ability to follow Supervisor direction.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts and objectives.
  • Alignment with company core values and professional conduct.
  • Understanding of Avalign’s Quality System, strong familiarity with Measurement Instruction Sheet layout and purpose, and Avalign’s Compliance Policies.
