The Luxury Preowned Vehicle Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the preowned vehicle department, including appraising, purchasing, reconditioning, merchandising, and inventory management. This leader will recruit, develop, and motivate a successful sales team while consistently achieving department goals.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train, motivate, and manage used-vehicle sales staff
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels and enforce a 45-day turn policy
  • Lead daily and weekly sales meetings and sales training sessions
  • Establish product knowledge standards and ensure compliance
  • Assist sales consultants in closing deals and improving performance
  • Forecast monthly and annual sales, gross profit, and expenses
  • Manage the department budget and annual operating forecast
  • Process sales commission sheets daily and monitor sales payroll
  • Implement effective follow-up processes for all prospects and leads
  • Monitor customer preferences, track lost sales, and analyze local market trends
  • Collaborate daily with the New Vehicle Sales Manager on inventory needs
  • Oversee cosmetic and mechanical reconditioning within cost and time guidelines
  • Manage wholesaling activities and maintain relationships with external buyers/sellers
  • Establish delivery processes ensuring proper service introductions and first-service scheduling
  • Attend auctions regularly and stay informed on auction activity and pricing
  • Approve all auction paperwork and ensure accurate documentation
  • Handle customer concerns promptly and in line with dealership standards
