Job Summary and Responsibilities The Main Pre Operative Unit at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center serves over 25 operating rooms including Cardiovascular, Neurological, and a Level One General operating room. The space consists of 26 bays and has a volume of over 900 patients each month. This fast paced collaborative unit is a great place to work with a cohesive team. Job Summary Assess patient/family health problems and resources, taking a leadership role in the development, implementation and outcomes evaluation of a plan for nursing care. Provides professional nursing care and interventions to acutely ill adult patient populations. Position requires providing service to one or more age groups including young adults through geriatric patients in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served. Position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the organization. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee will support the organization's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the hospital wide performance improvement plan.

Requirements

  • Associate Of Nursing Nursing
  • Two (2) years RN experience within applicable clinical specialty, upon hire
  • Registered Nurse: AZ, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Of Nursing Nursing
  • Charge Nurse experience, upon hire
  • Previous experience with personal computers

Responsibilities

  • As a Charge RN, you'll oversee a department of frontline nurses caring for patients.
  • Every day you will advocate for your fellow nurses as you support them in reaching their full potential, which aligns with your department's operational goals and objectives.

  • You're an excellent communicator in 1:1 interactions and in front of groups.
  • It's also important for you to be comfortable holding tough conversations, as you are responsible for the performance of your people and your unit.
  • Mentors others in areas such as competency, documentation, equipment use, plan of care, National Patient Safety Goals, and participation in inservice education.
  • Evaluates care given by staff.
  • Coaches to improve care.
  • Ensures standard of care is maintained.
  • Exhibits a general understanding of the process for dealing with ethical dilemmas and understands and coordinates the process for obtaining an Ethics Consult.
  • Coordinates patient flow on the unit to facilitate the provision of timely and effective care.
