Putting people first The Practice Manager (PM) is the operational and cultural leader of the hospital, responsible for overseeing all aspects of facility operations, including business performance, financial management, team leadership, and day-to-day clinical operations. The PM ensures an exceptional client experience, a highly engaged team, and consistent execution of CityVet’s policies, standards, and procedures. This role partners closely with the Lead Veterinary Partner (LVP) to align operational excellence with high-quality medical care while fostering a positive, accountable, and people-first workplace culture.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of state and federal safety standards (including OSHA)
  • Working knowledge of regulations governing veterinary hospitals
  • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 3 years of relevant leadership or management experience OR a bachelor’s degree
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage performance, and drive operational outcomes

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Lead, interview, hire, onboard, train, and supervise all facility staff to ensure clear role expectations, accountability, and career development opportunities.
  • Foster continuous staff development through coaching, professional and clinical training, timely performance and compensation reviews, and corrective action when necessary, up to and including termination.
  • Serve as the on-site leader and culture champion, modeling CityVet’s mission, values, and service standards.
  • Partner with the LVP to ensure alignment between clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and team engagement.
  • Oversee daily hospital operations, ensuring quality control in client care, client service, and medical records.
  • Ensure an exceptional client experience, including service recovery, complaint resolution, and continuous improvement based on client feedback and reviews.
  • Own financial and operational performance, including budgeting, payroll management, revenue growth, expense control, and inventory oversight.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement action plans to drive operational and financial success.
  • Ensure compliance with all CityVet policies, HR guidelines, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain vendor relationships and oversee inventory management to support efficient hospital operations.
