About The Position

The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA. We are looking for a Production Pouch Operations Supervisor to supervise pouch production personnel and lead day-to-day packaging operations to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality, and compliant performance. This role drives continuous pouch line flow, packaging integrity, labor efficiency, food safety compliance, sanitation execution, and profitability through disciplined execution of Manufacturing Standard Practices (MSPs), the Food Safety & Quality Management System (FSQMS), and key performance indicators (KPIs). This leader will be responsible for the pouch-floor execution and is fully accountable for results on their shift at our TomaTek plant in Firebaugh, CA. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, or related field; Operations, Engineering, or related field preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
  • Three years’ experience in food manufacturing or packaging manufacturing, preferably in a food processing environment.
  • One year’s experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word and effective verbal and written communication skills in English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check including employment and educational verification, credit screen, and to work extended schedule and weekends during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise pouch packaging personnel and provide hands-on training in machine operation, standardized work, yield control, and quality verification.
  • Lead pouch line start-ups, changeovers, and shutdowns to maximize run efficiency and minimize waste.
  • Coordinate with the Pouch Production Manager to plan daily production execution, prioritize SKUs, and remove operational barriers.
  • Monitor real-time production performance including run rates, downtime, scrap, giveaway, labor efficiency, and quality compliance.
  • Verify pouch machine settings including heat seal temperature, dwell time, pressure, fill weights, and coding accuracy.
