About The Position

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented graduating senior from Ohio Wesleyan University’s Class of 2026 for a one or two-year, paid, full-time position supporting the University President’s Office, reporting to the Executive Assistant to the President. The anticipated start date is Wednesday, May 27, 2026, and ending early June 2027. Responsibilities include assisting with event planning, managing the University Guest House as the live-in house manager, handling correspondence, booking travel, reconciling expenses, and providing administrative support to the President and the President’s Office. The candidate must be able to work both independently and collaboratively while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality. The ideal candidate will have diverse knowledge of and student leadership experience at OWU, strong writing and communication skills, and an interest in higher education, communications, event management, or related fields. The position involves direct interaction with the President, the President’s Cabinet, and the Board of Trustees while managing key responsibilities that contribute to the university's operations and special events.

Requirements

  • Graduating Senior from the OWU Class of 2026.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently but also as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information in a professional demeanor.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Diverse knowledge of and student leadership experience at Ohio Wesleyan University preferred.
  • Interest in pursuing a career in higher education, communications, event management, or related fields preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaboration with the Executive Assistant to the President in planning and execution of all campus gatherings (town halls, commencement, etc.), events, meetings, and similar activities for the President, the President’s Cabinet, and the Board of Trustees.
  • Manage booking, guest experience, billing, maintenance, and light housekeeping for the University Guest House and Wenzlau Suite as the live-in house manager.
  • Conduct research, prepare briefing materials for meetings, and record meeting minutes as needed.
  • Write correspondence, including thank you, condolence, letters of support, and more, on behalf of the President in coordination with the Offices of Communications, Gift Planning, and Print Services.
  • Book travel, lodging, and conference arrangements for the President.
  • Reconcile transactions and manage expense reporting in SAP Concur and BishopBuy.
  • Aid in the capture of alumni data and correspondence using Raiser’s Edge, ensuring accuracy and proper archiving.
  • Provide administrative support, monitor the President’s Office email, field phone calls, and resolve and refer to the appropriate person for a range of administrative problems and inquiries.
  • In collaboration with the Executive Assistant, create documents that directly assist with strategic office operations.
