About The Position

New Jersey's academic health center, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) takes an integrated approach to educating students, providing clinical care, and conducting research, all with the goal of improving human health. Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate for the department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow works independently on research projects, with supervision from a Research Mentor, and on developing teaching skills, with supervision from a Teaching Mentor, to support the general functioning of their biomedical research laboratory, and to fulfill the research and teaching requirements of the Rutgers IRACDA, INSPIRE Postdoctoral Training Program.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or related discipline required.
  • Candidates in ABD (all but degree) status will also be considered.
  • Must be comfortable working with other people and interacting with people at different stages of their career. Must have good communication skills, including the ability to bring concerns to the attention of the INSPIRE Program as they arise.

Responsibilities

  • Must take part in all of the research, writing and teaching training provided for INSPIRE IRACDA Fellows.
  • Must take part in all of the research and teaching evaluation surveys provided for the INSPIRE IRACDA Fellows.
  • Does biomedical research with Research mentor, and publishes the findings, in support of developing an independent academic research career.
  • Works with a Teaching Mentor at INSPIRE Partner School to teach and mentor undergraduate student, in support of developing an independent academic research career.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
