About The Position

Post Doctoral Scholar to join the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at The Ohio State University studying biocatalytic transformations. The Post Doctoral Scholar will embark on a program of independent research with the primary goal of determining how to harness abundant enzyme frameworks for challenging organic transformations. Duties will include conducting laboratory work centered around organic methodology work, inert reaction design and execution, as well as biological work to enable enzyme expression; leading manuscript preparation for submission to peer-reviewed journals; and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. Other responsibilities include supporting the maintenance of laboratory infrastructure.

Requirements

  • PhD in Organic Chemistry or a related field by the time of hire is required, along with a strong theoretical or practical background in synthetic methodology.
  • Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining a glovebox, lab journal
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A collaborative mentality towards research and mentoring

  • These required and desired skills should be demonstrated through a record of peer-reviewed publications.
