About The Position

The Post Doctoral Researcher position in the Department of Biological Chemistry and Pharmacology at The Ohio State University involves pursuing education and gaining research experience under the supervision of designated faculty. This is a fixed-term role, generally not exceeding three years. The scholar will conduct basic science and applied research in Gene Therapy and/or Visual science, which includes identifying and selecting research problems in collaboration with the Principal Investigator, planning and executing complex experiments, and coordinating data collection and analysis. A key focus of the research is to explore gene therapy solutions, such as gene modulation and gene editing, to treat various ocular diseases, and to study Adeno-associated virus (AAV) biology.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or professional degree (implied for a Post Doctoral Scholar position)
  • Successful completion of a background check
  • Ability to complete a drug screen or physical if required during the post offer process

Responsibilities

  • Pursue education and experience in research under the supervision of designated faculty
  • Perform basic science and applied research in the field of Gene Therapy and/or Visual science with considerable scope and complexity
  • Identify and select problems to be studied in agreement with Principal Investigator
  • Plan and perform complex experiments and procedures
  • Coordinate, collect, and analyze data
  • Prepare research results for publication in reports, papers, journal, books, presentations, conference and other media
  • Prepare seminars, talks, and lectures
  • Supervise over assigned research staff and students
  • Assist with laboratory techniques and operate laboratory equipment
  • Perform basic lab maintenance duties
  • Maintain lab supplies
  • Explore gene therapy solutions including gene modulation and gene editing to treat various ocular diseases
  • Study Adeno-associated virus (AAV) biology
