  • Education: MD or PhD in relevant field required
  • Experience: Experience with host-microbe interactions, microbiology, and molecular biology preferred.
  • Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
  • Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Molecular biology: Perform molecular biology, including molecular cloning, qPCR, and RNA/DNA sequencing.
  • Host-microbe studies: Conduct in vivo experiments with honey bees and/or other model systems to be established in the lab.
  • Computational biology: Perform bioinformatic analyses, including RNAseq analysis, genome sequence alignment, phylogenetic tree creation, and protein structure prediction.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with students and researchers internal and external to the lab. Given the opportunity, serve as a mentor to graduate and undergraduate students in the lab.
