About The Position

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of OBYGN has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Post Doctoral Associate to work in Miami, Fl. The Post Doctoral Associate performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff. Moreover, the Post Doctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community. Conducts research on specific areas of study as assigned. Prepares research reports and technical papers for publishing. Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories. Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories. Develops advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in relevant field, or PhD in molecular genetics, genomics, or cell biology preferred.
  • No prior experience required
  • Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff.
  • Promotes institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community.
  • Conducts research on specific areas of study as assigned.
  • Prepares research reports and technical papers for publishing.
  • Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories.
  • Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.
  • Develops advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
  • Performs complex laboratory assignments, including the planning and conducting of projects related to cell culture and molecular biology.
  • Schedules and performs experiments in research laboratory.
  • Solves problems in scientific and technical execution, interpret experimental data and maintain accurate records.
  • May need to develop, adapt and implement new lab procedures.
  • Performs complex and routine molecular biology procedures including flow cytometric analysis, PCR, RT-PCR, Q-PCR, and Western blotting, DNA/RNA extraction, recombinant protein and isolation and purification, transfection, and aptamer isolation, conduct multi-omics (scRNA/ATAC/scDNA-seq) projects.
  • Assists in the preparation of data and figures for manuscripts and for scientific presentations using Power Point, R/Python and other graphics software as needed.
  • Searches literature for references to technical problems and keep informed by reading technical journal and publications.
  • Presents data in laboratory meetings and other venues.
  • Collaborates with Scientists and clinicians in international low-resource settings.
