The successful applicant for this position will be an integral contributor towards this goal and we will support your professional development as part of our multi- cultural, customer-centric global team.   National Grid is hiring a Portfolio Manager.  This role is designated as hybrid, with an expectation of one or two days per month in one of our offices. Requirements may vary based on business needs and company policy.  Job PurposeNational Grid is seeking a Portfolio Manager in our Electric IT&D group to drive the overall planning, delivery and regulatory recovery across the Electric portfolio. This critical role ensures the investment portfolio is strategically aligned to New York, New England and IT&D priorities, while balancing competing demands across internal Electric Value Streams. Leading through influence, the Portfolio Manager will drive stakeholders to deliver shared objectives with the ultimate goal of providing measurable value to our Customers.

Requirements

  • 8+ years IT investment experience focused on planning, scheduling, forecasting, milestone management, resourcing, risk management, and reporting
  • Robust understanding of the cost and value drivers of IT and the impact on core operational functions
  • Ability to manage complex and varied interpersonal relationships toward desired outcomes
  • Strong customer and stakeholder management
  • Attention to detail; ability to organize time and information to successfully manage competing priorities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to present detailed data while highlighting key points to facilitate effective Value Stream management and decision making
  • Strong commitment to delivering results
  • Capacity for self-motivation, independent initiative, and effective problem-solving
  • Bottom-line oriented, budget conscious, metric/measurement driven
  • Demonstrable creative and critical thinking

Nice To Haves

  • PMP certified
  • Experience delivering in a SAFe framework
  • Strong understanding of National Grid’s IT&D delivery methodologies
  • Experience with financial modeling and regulatory recovery/allowance
  • Electric product/project experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead investment planning activities, ensuring alignment with business strategy and commitments
  • Compile and submit monthly budget forecasts received from program and project managers, making portfolio-level adjustments as needed and ensuring key questions around areas such as variances and change requests are answered
  • Drive strategic investment planning, collaborating with Value Stream leads to ensure relative priority is clear to guide decision making against capacity constraints
  • Manage regulatory requirements and reporting, including rate case development, commitment tracking and variance reporting
  • Oversee delivery of Executive-level reporting to drive enhanced visibility and decision-making across the portfolio
  • Facilitate regular 360 Portfolio Reviews with cross-functional stakeholders to review Value Stream performance (financials, milestones, risks/dependencies), Application Performance, Security, and Agile Operations.
  • Collaborate with New York and New England portfolio teams to ensure alignment on governance, value reporting, and agile processes.
  • Support the stand-up of new initiatives in conjunction with Value Stream leads, guiding program/project managers on the development of high-quality project mandates, business cases, investment proposals, post investment appraisal and other deliverables as required
