Portfolio Controller
About The Position
Work directly with cofounders to lead accounting operations and financial reporting for a well capitalized investment platform with national reach, driving best-in-class processes and portfolio-wide impact across diverse operating companies. Requirements
- Systematized Reporting & Process Development: Proven track record in building and refining accounting operations and financial reporting processes within an operating company—critical for driving consistency and accuracy in financial data.
- Strong Relationship Management & Leadership: High EQ and IQ required to effectively partner with and mentor portfolio company controllers, while collaborating across entrepreneurial leadership teams within the investment platform.
- M&A Integration & Operational Support: Hands-on player-coach role leading post-acquisition accounting integrations and system conversions, managing external partners, and ensuring seamless transitions during diligence and integration phases.
Responsibilities
- Lead Accounting Ops: Own the month-end close and financial statement prep across the firm’s assets, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Drive Reporting Repeatability: Build and roll out systematized financial reporting processes to deliver consolidated, fund-level insights for a $1B+ platform.
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and streamline accounting workflows, pushing automation and collaborating cross-functionally to boost financial accuracy and performance.
- Audit + Compliance Management: Act as the go-to for external auditors, managing annual audits and ensuring strict GAAP and regulatory compliance.
- Mentorship & Management: Partner closely with portfolio company controllers, providing coaching, setting high standards, and fostering a culture of accountability and ongoing improvement.
