About The Position

Portfolio CEO: Property Restoration & Remediation (Palm Beach County, FL) Have you built your career leading restoration and remediation operations, navigating insurance claims, managing field crews, and delivering results in a business that runs 24/7? Have you owned a P&L, led a team through complexity, and built referral relationships with adjusters, insurance carriers, or property managers? Are you ready to participate personally in the results you deliver, in partnership with a team that is invested in your success? ABOUT AMERICAN OPERATOR American Operator exists to keep the American Dream alive through small-business leadership and ownership. We place experienced operators into businesses of retiring owners who want their life's work placed in capable, values-driven hands. Our mission is to ensure great businesses stay local, stay strong, and stay in the hands of leaders who care. Operators who partner with us step into the CEO role of an established Main Street business backed by hands-on support, strategic guidance, and a community of peers. This is not a solo endeavor. American Operator is your partner from day one, investing in your success as you invest in the business. Over time, operators follow a clear pathway to earn significant equity in the business they lead. THE ROLE American Operator is hiring a CEO to lead an established, full-service property restoration and remediation company based in South Florida. The business provides emergency water mitigation, mold remediation, fire restoration, and reconstruction services to residential and commercial clients on a 24/7 basis. It has been operating for nearly a decade with a tenured field team, a strong referral network, and growing traction through a major national insurance restoration program. The retiring owners will be available for a transition period to support knowledge transfer. As CEO, you will have full P&L responsibility and lead the business through a leadership transition with American Operator as your strategic partner. This is not a corporate management role and it is not a solo operation. The business runs on emergency response, insurance coordination, and field execution. It requires a leader who understands the restoration industry, earns trust quickly, and thrives in a high-urgency, relationship-driven environment. The right person will treat this business as their own, and the structure is designed to reward that mindset with real equity over time.

Requirements

  • Navigated an insurance-driven revenue cycle, including AR management tied to carrier reimbursement timelines and coordination with adjusters
  • Held personal P&L accountability in a small business or business unit. You have been responsible for financial outcomes, not just activity metrics
  • Managed a field-based team in a small business environment, including hiring, performance management, and retention of skilled tradespeople
  • Operated in a fast-paced, emergency-response environment where urgency, judgment, and availability are non-negotiable

Nice To Haves

  • You hold a Mold Remediation License and/or a Certified General Contractor License
  • You have built or grown relationships with insurance carrier programs, third-party administrators, or national restoration networks
  • You have successfully navigated a leadership or ownership transition, inheriting a team and key relationships from a departing founder and earning their trust without disrupting operations
  • You have developed commercial clients or property management accounts alongside a primarily residential business
  • You are based in or willing to relocate to the South Florida market
  • Experience generating home services leads through digital and local marketing
  • Fluent in Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Lead business operations across water mitigation, mold remediation, fire restoration, and reconstruction, ensuring quality and responsiveness on every job
  • Own the full P&L, including working capital management across insurance reimbursement and cash payment cycles
  • Retain and develop the existing field team through the leadership transition, building trust with tenured technicians and office staff who are the operational backbone of the business
  • Manage and grow relationships with insurance adjusters, carriers, and referral partners including plumbers, HVAC technicians, and property managers
  • Oversee insurance claims coordination, Xactimate estimating workflow, and compliance with carrier program requirements
  • Develop the commercial client segment, as property management companies, commercial property owners, and institutional referral sources represent a meaningful, largely untapped growth opportunity
  • Optimize digital marketing and lead generation to improve ROI on existing spend and expand inbound volume
