Under the supervision of the Aquatics Manager II, the Pool Manager is responsible for: Administer the Park District pool program at given location, including supervising events, training and supervising pool staff, scheduling and supervising building and grounds maintenance. Suggest programs to promote use of the pool in line with its defined objectives and perform other related public relations functions. Enforce pool rules and regulations in a courteous manner. Maintain schedules, submit all necessary reports including a daily financial statement, and keep records on all phases of the pool operations. Requisition necessary equipment and supplies and administer concession and admission operations under authorization of the Aquatics Manager. Check all mechanical equipment and perform routine maintenance including control of heating and ventilating systems, backwash filters, minor equipment repair and cleaning of pool, locker rooms, and all other areas of the building and grounds, where necessary. Inventory, requisition and supervise all concession operations. Submit bi-weekly payroll sheets. Plan, direct and document facility staff safety review meetings on a weekly basis. Present a positive, enthusiastic image of the Park District and its pools and programs. Be courteous, tactful, and polite to the public at all times. Responsible for general pool operation and ensuring employees fulfill their prescribed list of duties satisfactorily. Instruct employees in their personal conduct while at the pool and encourage courtesy to the public at all times. Support employees in carrying out instructions in controlling patrons. Be neat in appearance and promote same among employees. Make sure that all employees understand their jobs and instructions, and supervise with diplomacy. Make routine checks in all parts of the pool area to check on discipline, employees, and general cleanliness. Complete daily safety checklist. With the Aquatics Manager’s authorization, take pH and chlorine tests each morning and every two hours throughout the day to ensure proper chlorination. Adjust chlorinator to meet sun and bather load. Examine chlorine tanks and connect new tanks as needed. Check temperature of pool water every two hours and record. In case of an accident, supervise proper first aid. Contact the child’s guardians immediately if accident is serious. Fill out accident reports in full and mail in with daily report. Review daily report and deposit. Secure deposit with Park Police or in authorized safe. Contact the Aquatics Supervisor in any emergency which requires closing or not opening the pool for any reason. The manager or assistant manager must be on duty before any usage can occur. All safety rules will apply. Perform all other duties as assigned.
