Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Radio-TV-Film, Political Science or Journalism.
Minimum three years related experience.
Strong knowledge and interest in politics, current events and campaigns – particularly for Congress.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently, but also take direction.
Ability to be creative and innovative.
Ability to work a varied schedule, including some nights and weekends.
Ability to travel.
Must possess an adequate credit rating to qualify for receipt of a company-issued credit card.
Must provide a current Motor Vehicle Record from the state that issued their driver's license and hold a valid driver's license.
Ability to operate vehicles in accordance with C-SPAN guidelines.
Nice To Haves
Knowledge of a newsroom system, especially Dalet, a plus.
Knowledge of non-linear editing a plus.
Responsibilities
Identifies Campaign 2026 coverage opportunities – debates, rallies, forums, interviews, etc. – for House, Senate, gubernatorial and presidential races, as assigned, and passes that information to the Politics Editor and Politics Desk Editor.
Produces political coverage for all platforms. This includes creating graphics, scripts and other elements that help inform C-SPAN viewers about the races we're covering and why they're important.
Consistently identifies and communicates to all platforms the most newsworthy and relevant aspects of assigned events in a timely and accurate manner.
Edits event coverage in a timely manner.
Efficiently and effectively coordinates all elements of studio and field productions for primary night, election night, conventions and other special events.
When needed, leads Politics team, including making assignments and checking others' work for accuracy and to ensure C-SPAN production standards.
Serves as line producer for studio productions, as assigned.
