About The Position

Political & Advocacy Sales Director – Townsquare Ignite This is a remote position that requires you to work closely and collaboratively with a team. About Townsquare Ignite: Founded in 2010, Townsquare Ignite products and solutions are a combination of our owned and operated digital properties, our proprietary digital programmatic advertising platform, and an in-house demand and data management platform collecting valuable proprietary first-party data, and is the fastest growing revenue and profit driver of Townsquare Media. Our Competitive Advantage: First-Party Data Collection: As a large-scale digital content publisher, we collect valuable first-party data from our audience, minimizing reliance on third-party data sources. Proprietary Advertising Technology: We offer a proprietary advertising technology platform, including an in-house demand-side buying platform (DSP). Integration with Multiple Platforms: Our platform integrates with over 15 digital advertising buying platforms and provides access to all major advertising exchanges and mobile apps. About the Role: As the Political & Advocacy Sales Director , you’ll play a pivotal role in expanding Townsquare Ignite’s footprint within the political and advocacy landscape. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Agency and Political Partnerships, you will drive new business growth while deepening relationships with existing clients across political campaigns, public affairs, and government sectors. This is a quota-carrying, client-facing position for a strategic self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple opportunities at once. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in digital political media, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a passion for helping clients win.

Requirements

  • Proven success exceeding sales quotas within the political advertising ecosystem.
  • 5+ years of digital advertising sales experience, ideally focused on political or advocacy media.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • A self-starter mentality with an entrepreneurial spirit and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience using CRM tools to manage pipelines, track performance, and uncover new opportunities.
  • Proficiency in building persuasive pitch decks and supporting research to win new business.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to meet with clients as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, pitch, and close digital advertising campaigns with political, public affairs, and government media buyers.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with local, state, and national political agencies, PACs, party committees, and advocacy groups.
  • Serve as a strategic partner, providing insights and recommendations that help clients achieve their goals while delivering measurable ROI.
  • Own the full sales cycle — from prospecting to closing — with a solutions-focused, consultative approach tailored to each client’s unique objectives.
  • Represent Townsquare Ignite in virtual and in-person meetings, demonstrating subject matter expertise and a clear POV on industry trends and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Townsquare’s local Account Executives to support and close deals in-market.
  • Analyze campaign performance data and translate insights into actionable recommendations that drive incremental revenue.
  • Act as a strategic leader who balances immediate revenue results with scalable growth for the future of the business.
  • Participate in regular virtual team meetings with the camera on to foster stronger collaboration and engagement, ensuring active communication and connection with colleagues across departments.
