Advanced Energy United (United) is currently seeking a Policy Principal to join our Decisionmaker Education and Engagement team (DMEE). The DMEE team assists state regulators, state energy office officials, and policymakers to better understand advanced energy products, services, and business models. Through National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC), business roundtables, and educational forums, United educates candidates, commissioners, energy office officials, and staff members about the benefits advanced energy technologies and services can provide to customers and helps to solve the challenges in obtaining these benefits. Reporting directly to the Eastern DMEE Policy Director, the Policy Principal will assist with individual commissioner education and ongoing support and be responsible for strategizing, planning and implementing regional and national educational forums for commissioners and commission staff. While focused primarily on New England and Mid-Atlantic states and commissions, the Policy Principal will also support United’s national work on the transition to 100% clean energy. The ideal candidate has exceptional project management, relationship building, and stakeholder engagement skills as well as an ability to quickly assess and act upon political dynamics. Candidates should also possess an interest in—and working knowledge of—state-level energy policy issues. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, proactive, comfortable with ambiguity, and flexible. Candidates will need to travel to meet with key stakeholders on a regular basis.
