About The Position

The Summer Intern will support the Planning, Development, and Communications team by conducting policy research, analyzing workforce data, and helping build internal systems to track key legislative and policy developments. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual interested in workforce development, public policy, and data-informed storytelling.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Good critical thinking skills and analytical skills.
  • Strong research and writing skills, including the ability to synthesize data into clear and compelling narratives.

  • Interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required. Must be attending post-secondary education with an interest in policy, public administration, social services, urban planning, business, economics, political science or similar.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office or similar systems. Experience with, or interest in, data visualization or policy tracking tools
  • Availability: 20 hours per week which may include later hours as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on local, state, and federal workforce policies, legislation, and funding priorities.
  • Analyze data related to poverty, unemployment, and workforce trends in Milwaukee, WI to help develop clear, data-driven agency need statements.
  • Assist in translating complex data and policy information into accessible content for internal and external audiences.
  • Develop and organize a simple, sustainable system for tracking policy updates, including maintaining links to relevant websites, legislative trackers, and key resources.
  • Support special projects and provide general assistance to the Planning, Development, and Communications team as needed.
