About The Position

The Annie E. Casey Foundation’s paid, twelve-week summer program is designed to provide interns with engaging, challenging project-based assignments, cross-team exposure and learning opportunities in a mission-driven environment, working to support their assigned team as well as on a group project with each other. The program will run from June 1–Aug. 21, 2026. The Foundation is seeking an intern to work with its Local Policy team, reporting to a senior associate. The duties listed above are intended as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. Requirements

  • Qualified candidates should be enrolled in a college or university program, preferably junior or senior standing or enrolled in a post graduate program.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Keen attention to and ability to track and manage details
  • Capacity to work well with competing priorities
  • Experience crossing boundaries of race, class, ethnic origin and personal philosophy, as well as the capacity to work effectively with a broad range of constituencies
  • Strong time-management skills
  • Proficiency with databases, Internet and presentation software
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Windows, Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio, OneNote).

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred majors include public administration, political science, social work, human services, sociology, and criminal justice.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with research on the policy implications of artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies for communities of color
  • Assist with grantee data collection and analysis.
  • Monitor changes in federal, state, and local legislation as it relates to youth experiencing homelessness and associated funding streams.
  • Other duties as assigned.
