ABOUT OATH: The City of New York’s Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH) is the nation’s largest administrative tribunal, holding approximately 400,000 trials and hearings a year. As the City’s central, independent administrative law court, OATH adjudicates a wide range of matters filed by nearly every city agency, board and commission. OATH also houses the Center for Creative Conflict Resolution which provides mediation and restorative justice support to City government agencies and the general public, and the Administrative Judicial Institute, a resource center that provides training, continuing education, research and support services for administrative law judges and hearing officers. JOB DESCRIPTION: The Administration division of OATH requires assistance in documenting current operational policies and procedures. The College Aide/Policy Analyst will gain valuable, and applicable experience in processing, and documenting these internal operations within the Administration team. The College Aide will be given the chance to provide input into internal policy, and operational procedures. Doing so will expose the College Aide to various operations within the functions of procurement, budget, data analytics, human resources, recruitment, timekeeping, payroll, facilities, and physical security management. The College Aide documentation cycle will require strong listening skills, logical thinking, empathy, and the ability to communicate in simple writing. The ideal candidate will be able to focus on the entire workflow process while possessing excellent communication, writing, and documentation skills. COLLEGE AIDE (ALL CITY DEPTS) - 10209 Qualifications For Assignment Level I: Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school. For Assignment Level II (Information Technology): Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. For Assignment Level III (Information Technology Fellow): Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. Appointments to this Assignment Level will be made by the Technology Steering Committee through the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications. SPECIAL NOTE Maximum tenure for all Assignment Levels in the title of College Aide is 6 years. No student shall be employed more than half-time in any week in which classes in which the student is enrolled are in session. Students may be employed full-time during their vacation periods.
