About The Position

The Dispatcher supports the operations department by effectively routing both Box Truck and Tractor-Trailer driver deliveries and pick ups to ensure on time service. The Dispatcher communicates with drivers and customers regarding details about shipments, arrival time, delays and discrepancies. The Dispatcher clearly communicates any special handling requirements, site location details or potential hazards or challenges. The Dispatcher must understand the basic DOT regulations and may assist in reviewing daily drivers logs and maintain various records, such as those pertaining to, vehicle maintenance and repair, freight bills, arrival times, etc. California Sierra Express has been serving the air freight logistics industry for over 35 years. We operate five freight terminals in CA and one in Reno, NV. We're an overnight carrier serving international and domestic freight forwarders as a final mile Pick-Up and Delivery agent for shipments that travel around the globe. You'll be joining a local team of over 30 people all committed to providing the best service possible to our customers who trust Cal Sierra to move their shipments on-time throughout the greater Los Angeles area.

Requirements

  • Excellent attendance and punctuality is mandatory
  • Computer Skill: This position does require extensive use of our freight management system, so strong computer skills are necessary
  • Strong Attention to Detail
  • High sense of urgency to work under pressure and at a fast pace
  • Committed to excellence and professional growth
  • Previous logistics dispatch experience required
  • This is a safety sensitive position and falls under federal drug and alcohol regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • LAX Cargo terminal experience preferred
  • Previous LTL logistics or Freight Forwarding experience a plus
