About The Position

This position involves technical work inspecting plumbing installations for compliance with the Florida Building Code. Incumbents in this class are responsible for conducting technical field inspections of new and existing plumbing installations to ensure compliance with the Florida Building Code. Responsibilities include inspecting plumbing installations in progress and upon completion; advising contractors or owners on necessary changes; conducting routine and periodic patrols to detect violations; issuing violation notices; investigating complaints of defective installations; and signing permits granting final county approval for completed work. Related office duties include providing information to contractors and the public and assisting in resolving their disagreements. Supervision is received from a technical supervisor who reviews work for conformance with established departmental policies, procedures, and regulations.

Requirements

  • Possess a current license as a Certified Journeyman Plumber or Master Plumber issued by the Miami-Dade County Construction Trades Qualifying Board and have at least five years of field experience
  • Possess a current license as a State Certified Plumbing Contractor issued by the Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board and have at least five years of field experience
  • Possess a current State of Florida Professional Engineer license pursuant to examination in the mechanical discipline and have four years of experience
  • Possess a current Florida Professional Engineer license and have five years of experience under that license
  • Possess a current Broward County Master Plumber license, Journeyman Plumber, or a combination thereof, and have five years of field experience and have applied for and received license reciprocity with Miami-Dade County
