Christman Facility Solutions is looking for a Plumbing Apprentice in our Mesquite, Texas region. What You Will Do: As a Plumbing Apprentice, your primary daily responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Registration with Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners for a Plumbing Apprentice License must be completed on 1st day of employment if not already licensed
  • Work requires manual dexterity to use plumbing and power tools.
  • Have personal hand tools and tool belt/pouch within the first 3 months of employment (refer to the mandatory tool list provided during onboarding).
  • Must be conscious of time schedules and deadlines.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Must be able to tolerate heights without fear.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be willing to travel 60 miles a day dependent on project location relative to where the employee lives.
  • Long distance travel required occasionally, including overnight stays depending on the project.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous construction or plumbing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Completes 2,000 hours of on-the-job training each year of apprenticeship.
  • Assists plumbers by performing tasks under the direct supervision of the designated Plumber/Foreman.
  • Fulfils and complies with all requirements as described in the designated Employee Handbook.
  • Demonstrates safe work habits and proper care and use of tools and equipment.
  • Comprehends and practices safe work procedures as outlined in the Company Safety Policy & Handbook.
  • Works on pipes, fittings and fixtures for heating, water, steam and drainage systems.
  • Cuts and installs pipe hangers.
  • Hangs pipe and assists in the setting of equipment.
  • Cuts, solders, and threads pipe as required using pipe cutter, acetylene torch and pipe threading equipment.
  • Digs trenches, either by use of hand tools or power equipment.
  • Assists the supervisor with tracking material usage and material that needs to be ordered.
  • Responsible for the upkeep and possession of power tools issued from the warehouse.
  • Properly plans and executes specific work as directed.
  • Keeps all material, tools and equipment in an orderly fashion and maintains a clean work area.
  • Identifies safety hazards and takes all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
