About The Position

Are you interested in the Plumbing industry, or are you currently a Plumbing Apprentice? We are seeking a skilled laborer in the Plumbing field who has an ambition to potentially become a plumbing apprentice, and ultimately a licensed Journeyperson Plumber. You will assist with installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems in residential and commercial buildings. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits. Additional Duties and Responsibilities: Assemble, install, maintain, and pressure test all pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, drainage, sprinkler, and gas systems according to specifications and plumbing codes. Determine sources of plumbing malfunctions and complete repairs as indicated or according to work orders. Install and repair pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures, and plumbing system equipment, including sinks, toilets, water heaters, water softeners, etc. Receive and complete work orders. Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates. Maintain accurate records on material and labor used. Maintain inventory of Adams tools, equipment, and materials. Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean. Respond to emergency calls as needed. Here are some other things that may come with the job, just so there are no surprises: Working in other areas of the Service Department to provide support during absences or shortage of staff in other trades or to perform duties associated with light construction projects. Requires flexibility and understanding that all team members may be required to perform duties outside their normal area of expertise to meet the mission and goals of the Adams team.

Requirements

  • Some experience with plumbing in a commercial and/or residential setting is a plus
  • Excellent customer service and sales skills
  • Knowledge of plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques
  • Some post-high school education from college, trade school or military is a plus
  • Must be able to stand, bend, twist and lift more than 70 pounds periodically throughout the shift and occasionally 70 pounds.
  • Must be able to pass a lift test
  • Must be able to pass a drug test
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Nice To Haves

  • The ability to read, interpret, utilize and train on manuals, schematics and control circuits related to Plumbing systems
  • Technical aptitude with knowledge of local plumbing codes and an ability to use resources at hand to find solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented and highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments
  • Good computer technical skills: knowledge of and proficiency in common office applications such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook and general software navigation.
  • Possess a strong personal desire for improvement
  • Have a clean, neat and professional appearance; a top performer who can instill pride of workmanship in himself and in others
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and background
  • Ability and willingness to work non-standard schedule: nights, weekends and holidays as/if required
