POSITION PURPOSE This position purpose is to provide leadership, direction and coordinate water systems and baghouse maintenance activities of the Auxiliary Services department. This includes responsibility for ensuring and improving the safety, productivity, efficiency in the area.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent GED/HSE
Associates degree in engineering, business or related field or acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered
Minimum of 5 years working with the maintenance of heavy equipment used in industrial manufacturing environment; including 5+ years of supervisory experience
Experience working with multiple contractors on medium to large sized projects
Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with employees, management and contractors
Mid to high-level computer skills; to include proficiency in Microsoft Office and MS Project
Proficiency with CMMS
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining composure and professionalism
Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
Regular and reliable attendance

Nice To Haves

Bachelors degree in mechanical, electrical or other related engineering field
Six Sigma training
10+ years of experience with maintenance and design of water systems and baghouse processes within the steel industry

Responsibilities

Lead employees in following all SSAB safety regulations. Ensure that all company safety practices and procedures are adhered to and all employees are adequately trained to perform their various job assignments in a safe and efficient manner.
Develop and enforce safety procedures and safe work practices to ensure the safety of employees and contractors in the performance of assigned work.
Ensure that the area meets or exceeds all safety objectives, including JSA/SOPs, safety meetings, required monthly inspections, housekeeping and other safety deliverables to continually drive safety improvements
Supervise and lead by example in following the company’s goals and values, enforcing policies and procedures, assist with recruiting, training, performance evaluations, employee skill development, discipline, retention and succession planning.
Lead, coach and counsel employees to promote an environment of teamwork, continuous improvement and positive morale.
Oversee the maintenance of various equipment including: water systems, baghouses, pumps, fans, piping, cooling towers and other equipment.
Lead teams to perform problem solving analysis to solve operating and equipment problems.
Review equipment design and processes to improve equipment and reduce operating and maintenance costs.
Develop and manage various capital projects from conception to completion.
Participate in the development and execution of various continuous improvement projects.
