About The Position

Reporting to the Company’s General Manager Vidalia AAM Operations (Phase 2), an exciting opportunity exists for a Plant Quality Manager to join the Syrah team based in Vidalia, Louisiana. This role is responsible for leading an independent, high-performance laboratory and quality assurance function within the Vidalia Active Anode Material (AAM) facility. This role is designed to strengthen independence between laboratory decision-making and process operations, ensuring rigorous analytical standards, robust product certification, and disciplined process-control analysis in accordance with the facility’s Control Plan. The position provides dedicated leadership to elevate analytical excellence, enhance certification performance, and strengthen overall QA/QC capability across the full production lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related technical discipline
  • 8+ years of experience in analytical laboratory leadership within advanced materials, chemical processing, battery materials, or equivalent industry
  • Demonstrated expertise in specialised analytical techniques relevant to carbon-based or engineered materials (e.g., particle sizing, surface area analysis, spectroscopy, impurity analysis, thermal analysis, etc.)
  • Strong experience in QA/QC systems within a regulated or high-specification manufacturing environment
  • Experience supporting customer qualification and certification processes
  • Proven leadership experience managing laboratory or quality teams
  • High level of analytical rigor and scientific credibility
  • Strong independence and integrity in decision-making
  • Exceptional attention to data accuracy and documentation quality
  • High-level problem-solving and analytical capability
  • Strong communication skills with technical and operational stakeholders
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-growing industrial environment

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain an independent laboratory function with clear authority over analytical standards, data validation, and certification outcomes
  • Ensure separation of laboratory decision-making from production pressures to safeguard data integrity and compliance
  • Develop and enforce robust analytical governance and quality control procedures
  • Lead specialized analytical programs for graphite anode materials
  • Ensure consistent, accurate and defensible test results supporting product certification and customer specifications
  • Implement best-practice analytical methods, calibration protocols, and validation procedures
  • Oversee laboratory equipment maintenance, qualification and continuous improvement
  • Champion a zero-harm safety culture
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable federal, state and local regulations
  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain compliance with environmental permits and reporting obligations
  • Enhance inspection, control, and verification processes across the entire production process
  • Strengthen QA/QC systems to ensure conformance with product specifications and customer requirements
  • Lead root cause investigations related to quality deviations and non-conformances
  • Ensure traceability, documentation integrity, and audit readiness
  • Build a high-performing laboratory team
  • Develop specialised analytical capability within the site
